Thanks for welcoming us back in 2022!
Returning to Northville at long last to celebrate Buy Michigan Week, was a delight. The crowd was friendly and the businesses were grateful for the opportunity to greet and sell to all of you. While we toil away on our plans for 2023, we encourage you to patronize our sponsors by stocking up on Faygo and Little Diablo Salsa. Pick up a copy of The ‘ Ville magazine, and call on Begonia Brothers to get your yard in shape. Pay a visit to Stemville with the kids or take in a USA Hockey game. If you fell in love with a vendor’s products, but forgot their name, here’s the list. Follow @BuyMichiganNow on social media to stay up-to-date on event news, or become a BMN Member for the first opportunity to register.
Remember, every week could be Buy Michigan Week, so shop locally year-round. Together we can revitalize this economy one product, one purchase, one person at a time.
Sponsors
We are deeply appreciative of the sponsors who continued to support our efforts to grow a stronger Michigan economy. For information on becoming a sponsor of the Buy Michigan Now Festival or the campaign, please contact Lisa Diggs via Lisa@BuyMichiganNow.com or 248-390-0974.
ENTERTAINMENT
You never know exactly when or where live performances and demonstrations may pop up at this year’s event. Look for strolling entertainment, acoustic musicians, mascots, book signings, demonstrations, expert speakers and other fun in various locations during the weekend. We’re shaking things up for 2022.
SOCIAL DISTRICT
Street dining and to-go beverages are available through a variety of local restaurants as part of Downtown Northville’s social district. Look for specials featuring Michigan-made beer, wine and spirits. Guests 21 and over may purchase alcoholic beverages to be enjoyed within the district on East Main and Center streets.
KIDS ZONE
The Kids Zone is a magical place designed to delight children of all ages with games, activities, STEAM projects and lots of surprises. Brought to you by our friends at USA Hockey and Stemville, it’s located in Old Church Square on north Center Street. Click the button below for specific family fun throughout the fest.
Vendors
When you put the word BUY in the title, most people instantly get the message that this fest is a place to spend some money. That makes it a wonderful place to turn a profit OR to shop. Vendors for this festival are selected based on the mission of creating jobs, supporting entrepreneurs, and helping Michigan businesses grow. Unlike many other street fairs and festivals, all of the businesses vending at the Buy Michigan Now Festival must meet one of the following criteria in order to participate:
- Operates entirely in Michigan
- Headquartered in Michigan with additional operations outside the state
- Michigan-owned franchise or affiliate: some fees or revenue paid out of state
- Artist, author, or musician that resides in Michigan
In addition to seeking only Michigan-based businesses, priority consideration is given to companies physically producing unique merchandise within the state, which is why it’s a great place to discover new tastes and products coming out of Michigan. WE ARE SOLD OUT OF SPACE FOR 2022.
Become a Volunteer
We couldn’t pull off this vibrant community event without the support of dozens of volunteers. Be an ambassador for your state and join in on the fun. We need people to help vendors check-in and get set; greet guests and answer questions; play with children in the Kids Zone, sell tickets and serve thirst-quenchers in our Michigan Beverage Garden, and more. Small groups are welcome. Students 16 and over may gain community service credits as well as gaining valuable experience.
About Northville, MI
The City of Northville alone is worth a visit, retaining a small-town atmosphere with stately Victorian-era architecture, and a contemporary, yet historic downtown. Old-fashioned street lamps and benches line the streets, which boast plenty of specialty shops, galleries, theaters, and restaurants. Most of the businesses are locally-owned, making it an ideal backdrop for a fest of this nature.
Legend has it that arrivals of fairies from around the world have been noted in the downtown area of Northville. Evidence of their presence can be seen with tiny doorways hidden on the inside and outside of stores on Main, Center, and other mid-town streets. Fairy businesses have been established and as more appear, it is obvious the colony of little beings is growing. Children are encouraged to look closely at each store to see if they can discover its mysterious little fairy door.
Located on the western fringe of the Detroit Metro area, Northville is about 30 minutes from downtown Detroit and 25 minutes from downtown Ann Arbor. The major thoroughfares of I-275 and M-14 are nearby, making access easy.
