Busch’s launches food drive for area children

According to Feeding America, 1,299,020 people in Michigan are facing hunger, and 305,190 of them are children. The need for children becomes even more drastic as the academic year comes to a close, and many meals provided through schools become unavailable. That is the driving force behind a food drive by Busch’s Fresh Food Market that is running from Monday, May 2nd through Sunday, May 15th, 2022.

The company has a history of coordinating such events, and in 2019, raised over $533,000 to fight local food insecurity. Here are 5 simple ways that you can join the effort.

• Drop off non-perishable food (no glass) in the Food Drive Bin at any Busch’s location.
• Purchase a pre-made Ready To Go Bag filled with items requested by their food rescue partners and drop it in the Food Drive Bin. They are $10 each.
• Purchase a gift tag for a $10 Bakery donation, a $5 Produce donation, or a Cash donation for any amount you wish. A donation of bakery, produce or money will be made in that amount to a food bank in your area.
• Process your returnable bottles and cans at Busch’s and donate your bottle return slips.
• Start a collection within your organization and bring all non-perishable food to your nearby Busch’s by May 15^th.

All of the proceeds from the Busch’s food drive will go to help families in need through Food Gatherers, Forgotten Harvest, and other smaller local food banks. Busch’s has locations in Ann Arbor (two), Brighton, Canton, Clinton, Dexter, Farmington Hills, Livonia, Novi, Pinckney, Plymouth/Northville, Rochester Hills, Saline, South Lyon. Tecumseh, and West Bloomfield.
