(Livonia, Mich, April 9, 2012) – The Buy Michigan Now (BMN) campaign is dedicated to helping businesses succeed in Michigan by creating awareness of products made here. Consequently, they are launching a contest for new business owners. The Up & Coming Entrepreneur Contest will give one winner marketing exposure worth more than $1,000. The contest is in conjunction with the Buy Michigan Now Festival. The fest is entering its 4th year in Downtown Northville, but this is the first year of the contest. BMN will select one Grand Prize winning business and one runner up.

  • Included as a Featured Business on BuyMichiganNowFest.com
  • Featured on Buy Michigan Now Facebook page

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Must be a Michigan-based business. That means either operating entirely in the state, or headquartered in Michigan with additional operations outside the state. Franchises are not eligible.
  • Must be in business for two years or less. Only owners can apply. There is a limit of one entry per person.
  • Will sell, sample, and/or demonstrate a product or products that are made in Michigan at the Buy Michigan Now Festival in Northville, August 3-5, 2012.
  • Business has not previously participated as an exhibitor at a Buy Michigan Now Festival

Submission Guidelines 

Businesses must send an email with “Up and Coming” in the subject line. Send to Fest@BuyMichiganNow.com by May 1, 2012.  Submissions MUST include ALL of the following elements to be considered.

  • Submitter’s name, title, and phone number
  • Company name and city
  • Date company began
  • Website (if applicable)
  • Description of product, which must be made in Michigan
  • Picture(s) of product (submission limit of no more than 3 pictures)
  • Tell us in 200 words or less, what makes your company/product unique. Include why you deserve this opportunity.

Participants agree to allow BMN to post any content submitted on social media or other websites. Consequently, content may also be included in press releases. Furthermore, submitters agree to answer questions and provide additional information, if requested. Most importantly, submitters agree to exhibit at the Buy Michigan Now Festival in downtown Northville August 3-5, 2012. Exhibiting must be in compliance with the festival’s Exhibitor Rules and Regulations. BMN will determine the selection committee. The committee will review all applications. All decisions of the BMN selection committee are final. Winners will be notified via email.

Festival Details

The 4th Annual Buy Michigan Now Festival takes place August 3-5 in downtown Northville. The festival draws approximately 15,000 guests. It event features concerts and children’s activities. There will also be a scavenger hunt. Sponsors include Hiller’s Markets and Downtown Northville; however, sponsorship options are still available.
