NMU gets $400,000 grant for business incubator

Northern Michigan University’s business incubator will receive another $400,000 in state funding to support students and regional entrepreneurs as they develop and launch their ideas. Metro Detroit Boys & Girls Clubs awarded $2 million

The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation has awarded $2 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. The matching grant will match $1 for every $2 raised by the organization as part of its $15 million fundraising goal over the next three years. More than $5 million already has been raised.

Over $216,000 raised for new mountain biking trails near Petoskey

The Little Traverse Conservancy announced that more than $216,000 has been raised to build a new mountain bike trail about 10 minutes southeast of Petoskey. A more than 6-mile multi-use trail system optimized for mountain biking is planned for the Tanton Family Working Forest Reserve. The area will include a beginner, intermediate, and advanced trail.

Albion College gifted largest donation in school history

Sarah and Alexander “Sandy” Cutler have gifted $8 million to Albion College to establish the Cutler Center for Student Success and Academic Achievement. Sarah Cutler graduated from Albion in 1975. The Cutler Center, which is scheduled to open in the 2020-21 academic year, will work with new students who may not be fully prepared for the experience.
