(Livonia, Mich, November 20, 2008) – Buy Michigan Now is launching a Michigan Grocery Guide just in time for Thanksgiving. The online tool lists brands produced by Michigan-based companies in a variety of food and beverage categories.
The new feature is in addition to the site’s popular business directory, which lists Michigan-based businesses in a multitude of industries. According to campaign founder, Lisa Diggs, “We added the Michigan Grocery Guide primarily as a response to requests from moms who want to buy more local products. They find it difficult to read labels, while also managing their kids at the market. They can print the guide and take it with them.”
The Campaign
The Buy Michigan Now campaign was started to energize people and motivate action. Visitors to the website are encouraged to get educated, get involved, and to ask themselves what they can do to help. Lisa Diggs is available to speak to business, community, and school groups. She’ll talk about the campaign and what listeners can do to help move the state forward. Diggs states, “We started this campaign to spread hope and a positive message about the future of this great state. Too many people are struggling, and many of them do not realize that there is something each of us can do to help. Changing the way we spend our money is one of the easiest places to start.”
Additional Website Features
Visitors to www.buymichigannow.com are encouraged to learn more about the origins of the products and services they purchase and to Think Michigan First, whenever possible. They can also download a Holiday Shopper’s Guide to identify Michigan products and gift ideas. The campaign is deliberately launching in time for what retailers commonly refer to as “Black Friday”, which is the unofficial start of the crucial holiday buying season.
