Perhaps the only thing that can make Michigan’s agricultural products and inventive locally-produced foods even more tantalizing is when talented chefs combine them and take them to a masterful new level. That’s what makes Taste the Local Difference’s (TLD)new digital cookbook such an exciting addition to Michigan’s foodie culture.
The Traverse city-based local food marketing company has collected more than thirty recipes from its local food partners over the years, and has now combined them into one new cookbook called Tastes: Local Michigan Recipes. Available online, the culinary resource is more than just a collection of recipes. Users will also find helpful videos, links to local ingredients, and seasonal produce guides. The cookbook is conveniently organized by season, and proceeds go to support the organization’s mission of educating consumers on the value of local food and fostering connections between local food businesses in Michigan. Access to the cookbook is just $14.99 and may be purchased here.
TLD also produces an annual Local Food Guide for Michigan. This free magazine-style guide acts as a directory to local food businesses, such as farms, farmers markets, restaurants, wineries, breweries, and more throughout the state. Additionally, it contains seasonal recipes, stories of local food champions, and resources to make the most of local food. Those interested in perusing the guide may view it online for free, or request a printed version be mailed to them for just $8.95.
Expect other exciting new projects to be forthcoming from TLD, as it has just announced its acquisition by Jody Trietch, a burgeoning young entrepreneur with significant experience in finance and a commitment to public service. She is the current CFO of Boomerang Catapult, Treasurer of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan, President of Impact 100 Traverse City, and former CFO for local governments throughout Michigan.
“Acquiring TLD provides me with the opportunity to unite my passions for agriculture and building strong communities through investing in a mission and team that I believe in,” said Trietch.
