Two sections of the Wallace Brothers Circus train collided at Durand on this day in 1903. The accident killed 23 members of the circus troupe, and injured twice as many more. It also calimed the lives of one Arabian horse, three camels, one great dane and an elephant, which were all buried at the scene.
