Detroit to Fort Gratiot rail service launces
November 21, 2021 @ 12:00 am
The first Detroit to Fort Gratiot service on the Chicago, Detroit & Canada Grand Trunk Junction Railway took place on this day in 1859. At age 12, future inventor, Thomas A. Edison worked on this line as a “candy butcher.” He was raised in the Port Huron area and selling candy on the train was one of the many rail-related jobs he would have in his career.
