Ford’s Highland Park factory runs with moving assembly line
October 7, 2021 @ 12:00 am
For the first time, Henry Ford’s entire Highland Park automobile factory was run on a continuously moving assembly line on this day in 1913. A motor and rope pulled the chassis past workers and parts on the factory floor. The innovation improved production time of the Model T from 728 to 93 minutes, thereby lowering the price of the Model T from $700 in 1910 to $350 by 1917, making it an affordable automobile for most Americans.
