Celebrate Buy Michigan Week August 1-7, 2022
Each summer we dedicate a special week here in Michigan to celebrate and support our local businesses. It’s a time to discover MI-made products, throw Michigan-themed parties, promote businesses we love, change our buying habits, visit independent stores and restaurants, and to lift a glass of our favorite locally-produced beverages and toast the hard working entrepreneurs that are the backbone of our economy. As we all struggle to recover from the devastating impact of the pandemic, we need to pay careful attention to where our dollars are going. How quickly our neighbors make it back to work, the future of our favorite independent businesses, and the job outlook we create for our kids is up to all of us. Together we can once again revitalize our economy, one product, one purchase, one person at a time.
BMNFEST
We’re excited to say that we are working with Downtown Northville on the return of our annual festival, which is currently slated for Aug 5-7, 2022! We started throwing these parties all the way back in 2009, when Governor Granholm proclaimed the first Buy Michigan Week. We encourage you to join in on the fun. Become a volunteer, vendor, or sponsor, or just come on out for food, fun, and shopping galore.
BUY PRODUCTS
Make a commitment to buy at least 3 new Michigan-made products this week. The easiest place to start is with food, but there are so many others from which to choose. Switch a regular product you buy from a national brand to local. Add some new jewelry, get a tee, try some wine. Post pix of your purchases with #buyMIweek to demonstrate your support and encourage others to join in on the celebration.
GET SOCIAL
Become a Buy Michigan Now Social Media Ambassador and help us promote buying locally all year, or just take up the cause during Buy Michigan Week. Visit independent shops and restaurants and post positive stories to your followers. Take pix of MI-made products or selfies from your favorite spots around the state. We need your eyes to spot new businesses and your voices to amplify the message.
